Convert text, images, and Word files to PDF.
UtilityBox is a pdf converter online free that handles four essential PDF workflows without installing any software or creating an account. Convert plain text to a downloadable PDF, turn JPG or PNG images into PDF files, run a full word to pdf converter for .docx documents, and use the built-in pdf text extractor to pull readable text out of any searchable PDF. Every operation uses open-source JavaScript libraries — jsPDF, PDF.js, and Mammoth.js — running entirely inside your browser tab. This is a true convert to pdf no upload solution: your files never leave your device, nothing is stored on a server, and there are no file-size limits tied to a paywall. Whether you need a quick text to pdf converter, an image to pdf online free tool, or a reliable docx to pdf exporter, UtilityBox covers every case in one place — 100% free, no sign-up required.
Yes, completely free — no account, no subscription, and no watermark on any generated PDF. UtilityBox's PDF Utility Hub is a browser-local tool that runs entirely on your device. There are no file-size limits imposed by a server, no hidden paywalls, and no need to provide an email address. All four conversion modes — text to PDF, image to PDF, Word to PDF, and PDF to text — are available at no cost.
No files are ever uploaded. The tool uses three open-source JavaScript libraries — jsPDF for PDF generation, PDF.js for PDF parsing, and Mammoth.js for docx to PDF conversion — all of which execute entirely inside your browser tab. Your documents, images, and text stay on your device at all times. This makes the tool safe for sensitive or confidential documents.
Switch to the Text to PDF tab, paste or type any text you want, then click Generate PDF. The jsPDF library renders your content into a properly formatted PDF file and triggers an automatic browser download. Line breaks are preserved, and the output is a standard, print-ready PDF that opens in any PDF viewer. No server call is made at any point in the process.
The image to PDF converter accepts JPG (JPEG) and PNG image files. After you select your image, the tool embeds it into a PDF page sized to fit the image dimensions using jsPDF. The resulting PDF is downloaded immediately. For best results, use high-resolution images. GIF, WEBP, and HEIC formats are not currently supported, but most phone photos and scanned images saved as JPG or PNG work perfectly.
Select the Word to PDF tab, click the file picker, and choose your .docx file. Mammoth.js extracts the document's text content and formatting, then jsPDF renders it as a downloadable PDF. Text formatting such as bold, italic, headings, and paragraph breaks is preserved. Complex layouts with multi-column sections, embedded images, or advanced table styles may not render perfectly — the tool works best with straightforward text-heavy documents.
The PDF to Text tab is a pdf text extractor: you upload any PDF that contains a real text layer (not a scanned image), and the tool uses PDF.js to read and display all extractable text in a copyable output box. Use it when you need to copy content from a PDF that disables right-click, or when you want to paste a document's text into another application without re-typing. Scanned image-only PDFs will not yield text since they contain no machine-readable characters.
Scanned PDFs contain images of pages rather than real text, so the PDF text extractor cannot retrieve characters from them — OCR (optical character recognition) is required for that task, which this tool does not perform. For best results with the PDF to Text feature, use PDFs created digitally from Word, Google Docs, or any software that embeds a proper text layer. If your scanned document was run through OCR before saving, the text layer will be extractable.
Yes. Because all processing runs in your browser using JavaScript, the tool works on any modern smartphone or tablet browser — Chrome on Android, Safari on iOS, and others. No app installation is needed. The file picker on mobile lets you select images from your camera roll or files from device storage. PDF downloads go directly to your Downloads folder. Performance depends on your device's processing power, but typical documents and images convert in seconds.
